RUNWAY 2026: AMPLIFY

 

Your Senior Collection Presentation will take place on Wednesday, December 3rd, where you’ll present your work to peers and FTT faculty. This is your opportunity to share your creative vision, research, and design development leading into FTT 451 Senior Project. The presentation also serves as a key component of your professional portfolio, showcasing your ability to communicate ideas visually and verbally as a designer.

 

Slide 1 – Title Slide

  • Collection Name

  • Designer Name

  • RUNWAY 2026: AMPLIFY

 

Slide 2 – Designer Bio

  • Designer bio (200–300 words)

  • Include a professional headshot

 

Slide 3 – Creative Statement / Concept Overview

  • 1–2 short paragraphs describing your concept and vision

  • What inspired this collection?

  • What message, story, or cause are you amplifying?

  • Include 1–2 visuals that reflect mood and tone

 

Slide 4 – Target Market / Customer Profile

  • Who is your customer?

  • Age range, lifestyle, values, and fashion preferences

  • Where they shop (brands, stores)

  • Include an image board or character collage

 

Slide 5 – Trend Research (WGSN / Forecast Alignment)

  • 2–3 key trends that support your concept

  • Trend name, summary, and visuals

  • Indicate if it’s F/W 2026 or S/S 2027, and include the title of the forecast

 

Slide 6 – Moodboard

  • 6–10 curated images showing color, texture, silhouette, and emotion

  • Include textures, materials, and cultural or artistic references

  • Optional: create a music playlist

 

Slide 7 – Color Palette

  • 4–6 main colors

  • Show fabric swatches and Pantone color references

  • Optional: note how the palette connects to your theme

 

Slide 8 – Fabric & Material Board

  • Images or actual swatches of chosen fabrics

  • List fabric names

  • Label key materials and note sustainability or innovation

 

Slide 9 – Collection Line-Up (Sketches)

  • 4 finalized looks

  • Include front and back views

  • Keep background clean and consistent

 

Slide 10 – Technical Flats (Front & Back)

  • Flats for each look (front and back)

  • Clearly label fabrics and key design details

  • Keep linework clean and consistent

 

Slide 11 – Nonprofit / Community Partnership (AMPLIFY Tie-In)

  • Name of nonprofit or cause

  • How your work connects to their mission

  • 1–2 sentences on what you’re amplifying through design

 

Slide 12 – Final Thoughts / Reflection

  • Short reflection: what you’ve learned or hope to achieve

  • Optional: include a quote that represents your collection

Collection Guidelines

The RUNWAY Fashion Show at Buffalo State University, deeply rooted in the mission, vision, and values of the university and the School of the Professions, is a distinguished event that celebrates academic excellence, creative expression, and community engagement. This updated policy is designed to ensure that the Runway event is a vibrant reflection of our institution’s ethos, fostering a space where innovation, inclusivity, and ethical practices are paramount.

*All design submissions must be original creations that highlight the designer's unique creativity, innovation, and commitment to ethical and sustainable practices in fashion. This aligns with the university's values of academic excellence and social responsibility.

 

Academic Code of Conduct

  • Participants must adhere to Buffalo State University's Academic Misconduct Policy, upholding honesty, responsibility, and respect.

  • Academic dishonesty, including plagiarism and misrepresentation, is strictly prohibited and will be met with appropriate action.

 

Design and Presentation Guidelines

  • Designs and patterns should be original including deconstructed and reconstructed garments. 

  • Designs must be suitable for a diverse audience, avoiding full nudity, sexual symbolism, or offensive content, in line with the university's dedication to respect and inclusivity.

  • Designs should align with following principles.

    • Reflecting Diversity and Inclusivity

    • Accessibility and Universality

    • Sustainability 

    • Respectful Representation

  • Acknowledgement

    • External inspiration must be appropriately credited, respecting and acknowledging history of fashion and culture.

  • Safety and Compliance

    • Adherence to safety standards is crucial to ensure the well-being of all participants and attendees.

    • Full compliance with all university policies, particularly harassment, discrimination, and respectful conduct, is mandatory.

 

Submission and Selection Process

  • Design submissions must adhere to the Critique and Evaluation deadlines.

  • Judges, comprised of industry and alumni experts, will assess designs based on creativity, thematic relevance, marketability, and overall quality, highlighting the university's standard of excellence.

Consequences of Policy Violation

  • Violations of this policy may result in disqualification from the event and possible academic disciplinary actions.

  • Serious or repeated infractions will be addressed in accordance with university policies.
