What does Provoking Protopias mean to you?
My definition of Provoking Protopias is helping the planet by finding better ways to create a safer and healthier way of doing things within the fashion industry, things can go out of style but always can be used to create a new piece. When I think about Provoking Protopias, I think of upcycling and improving sustainability to provoke a fashion industry that is better for our planet.
How does your work portray the activism that is being portrayed in Provoking Protopias?
My work portrays the activism that is being portrayed in Provoking Protopias because upcycling is a way of taking something old and creating something new. In my collection, I’ll be upcycling denim, turning something old into a new wearable piece.
What inspired you to do the work that you do, and what do you hope to accomplish through your work?
My inspiration for what I do is honestly myself. Being a creative individual I felt like there are many ways to express yourself but expressing yourself through fashion is different because you’re putting your emotions in what you wear and truly defines you .
What i hope to accomplish is to create a collection that catches the eye of many people, and even if it is similar to the work of others, create something that stands out on its own.
What do you hope people take away from Provoking Protopias?
To understand that no idea is impossible. If you have something on your mind , you can do it.
